The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was expected for questions to be raised about his position after a further convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.
Liverpool endured their ninth defeat in 12 matches, representing the team's worst run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.
They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough night at their home ground.
“I'm confident, I am OK, I've received significant support from management,” Slot stated.
“It's important to reverse this trend and get a victory of course but when you're in a managerial role and not doing well then it's typical that questions are asked.”
He noted, “I'm comfortable with my position. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”
Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the team officials, the head coach said:
“We communicate frequently. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me all the time of the day to say they trust me.”
He further stated, “Through standard discussions I feel the confidence. However I've not talked to them since this game so far so it remains to be seen.”
Slot expressed regret over familiar shortcomings from his squad in their European loss, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.
Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his assessment of the team's situation.
“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder said.
“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”
He went on, “It's tough because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched this club since I was young.”
“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a period like this with results like these.”
Jones finished, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And as long as that badge is taken away, we’re always going to battle.”
“We will attempt to help the side back to its rightful place, show everyone once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the greatest side in the planet.”
“But right now, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
