Former Physician Faces Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors report that a former physician stands accused of carrying out sexual assaults against thirty-eight victims who were patients.

The Serious Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.

One senior prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Investigation

The charges come after what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

List of Charges

The charging documents outline the 45 charges he is charged with:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Authorities have asked anyone with concerns to get in touch with the investigating team.
