Iran Reports Assault on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Regional Counterattacks.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes across the region in response for a significant and continuing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone in the area of the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any impact is not yet known and the American officials has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - said they have shot down incoming projectiles in their air space.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted areas linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Additional Developments
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a number of missiles," it added.
It said wreckage fell on a neighborhood in the capital, causing some property damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
