Liverpool's Captain Admits Squad Faces Crisis, Challenges Teammates on Accountability

The Liverpool skipper has delivered a scathing evaluation of Liverpool's disappointing title defence, admitting the reigning champions are in a mess and failing manager Arne Slot while doubting whether every player is taking responsibility for the team’s slump.

“Show character and confront the hardship and persist, again and again because surrendering is not an option then you are at the wrong place in my view, because Liverpool has been going through many adversity over those years and we’ve always come out of it. But it doesn’t mean it is straightforward, it’s tiring but there is only one path forward.”

Looking Ahead

The upcoming match in the Premier League is a trip to West Ham next Sunday, after the midweek visit of PSV in the Champions League. Van Dijk commented: “Wednesday is another game so how should I respond, dwell on the loss? No, I'll go home and analyze how we can improve results and I trust that is what everyone is doing as well.”
