Liverpool's Star Offers Regret to Liverpool Dressing Room, Reveals Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has disclosed that the Egyptian forward expressed regret to the team after the fallout from his televised remarks.
What Happened
Salah was left out from a vital match after voicing frustrations and suggesting his relationship with manager had soured.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I'm sorry.’”
Arne Slot has previously declined to reveal on whether he got an explanation from the 33-year-old forward.
Moving Forward
Jones insisted that the team's response remained positive. “Nothing about him changed, he had a big smile on his face and we all treated him normally,” he continued.
He also implied that a teammate fighting for a place is preferable. “It's clear there are specific approaches you can go about things,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just not start, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
Team Form
The team's performance have stayed unbeaten in the games following the initial controversy. He feels the forward's comments were not designed to destabilise the squad.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, it has consistently come from a desire to win,” the midfielder stated. “That chapter is closed and we’re gelling well as a team, performing and on a positive run.”
