New Jersey's top prosecutor leaves her post in the wake of judicial deems ineligible her service.
The former personal attorney for Donald Trump has stepped down as New Jersey's top federal prosecutor. This follows a court battle that invalidated her right to serve.
Official Departure
The head of the Justice Department, Pam Bondi, accepted Habba's resignation on the start of the week. In a statement that the judicial decision made it unworkable for the official to effectively run her office.
"Let no one confuse following the order as giving up," she declared. "My fight will now reach across the country."
Judicial Challenge
Her resignation follows closely on a federal appellate panel found that she had been serving in violation of the law as US attorney. This judgment is expected to impact scores of criminal cases in New Jersey.
The court declared that a temporary posting that did not receive confirmation by the US Senate breached the statute on vacant positions.

It was also stated that the former prosecutor will continue working within the DOJ as a senior adviser. She will pursue additional appeals of the disqualification, in the hope of achieving a reversal.
In a statement, she contended that the judiciary "must not countermand the President's choice of prosecutors tasked with executing the fundamental role of the presidency of prosecuting crime."
Accomplishments Cited
She highlighted Habba's record and pointed out that while she was in charge, the state capital of Newark saw a 20% reduction in offenses. Additionally that the Camden experienced its first summer in 50 years without a homicide.
Legal Career
The 41-year-old attorney, originally became part of Trump's personal legal team in recent years. She went on to represented Trump in his business records case in New York last year, when he was conviction on 34 counts of financial record manipulation.
Earlier, Habba took on the federal prosecutor position, the former president had revealed he was appointing her as his White House advisor in a potential future term, describing her as deeply loyal and a relentless legal advocate.
