Red Bull Confirms Major 2026 Driver Line-Up: Hadjar Steps Up, Youngster Lindblad Earns Formula 1 Seat.

Red Bull has confirmed significant changes for the 2026 Grand Prix year, moving up Frenchman Isack Hadjar to its main squad and awarding 18-year-old Briton Arvid Lindblad his first F1 drive.

Lindblad, who is of Swedish and Indian heritage, is set to become the partner of Kiwi driver Liam Lawson at the junior outfit VCARB.

This reshuffling sees Japan's Yuki Tsunoda losing his seat following a five-year stint.

Who is Arvid Lindblad?

Lindblad has been marked out as a prodigy by Red Bull since he was 12 years old.

Regarding the team's young driver programme, a senior Red Bull figure noted last year that Lindblad "seems extremely gifted", highlighting his "raw pace".

Red Bull has had a plan for some time to ready Lindblad for his likely Grand Prix bow in 2026, featuring appearances in Grand Prix practice at Silverstone and Mexico City.

Lindblad stated it was a "proud moment", adding: "Next season represents a massive test, and I know there's much to understand, but I'm eager to collaborate with the team and rise to it. I can't wait to get started."

Lindblad has taken two races in F2 this year and is sixth in the standings ahead of the season finale in Abu Dhabi.

Hadjar's Big Break

The Frenchman's debut season began in difficult fashion when he crashed during the warm-up lap of the first Australian Grand Prix. But, since then, he has emerged as one of the stand-out newcomers this season.

His performances featured an outstanding podium finish at the Dutch Grand Prix, and he sits 10th in the championship.

The team principal commented: "Hadjar has shown great maturity and demonstrated to be a fast adapter. Crucially, he has the raw speed that is the primary necessity in this sport. We believe he can succeed alongside Max."

Hadjar described it "an incredible opportunity" and said he felt "prepared".

Lawson Retains His Seat

To partner Lindblad at the junior team, Red Bull have preferred Lawson instead of Tsunoda.

The New Zealander began the season with the senior squad but was demoted after just two races. He has found his form at the junior outfit with some strong performances, convincing Red Bull he deserves more time.

Tsunoda, in contrast, has been ejected after a difficult season. His best result is a sixth place, and he has scored a minor percentage of the team's points total.

These announcements mean that there remains no place on the Red Bull programme for Irish driver Alex Dunne, who will continue in F2 for 2026.
