A team of six suspects carrying military-grade weapons detonated charges to breach the security of a gold treatment facility located in the city of Lyon, causing light wounds to five employees during what appears to be the latest high-profile broad daylight robbery to affect the nation.
The audacious robbery was carried out on Thursday late morning, with police forces quickly arresting the alleged criminals and recovering the stolen goods estimated to be worth €12M (£10.5 million), according to officials.
Five staff members of Laboratoires Pourquery were slightly hurt due to the explosion, and three of them were transported to hospital for assessment, according to regional authorities. Twenty-eight workers were present on-site when the perpetrators raided.
The suspects, considered experienced criminals, were detained shortly after the incident in the adjacent municipality of Vénissieux, France, authorities revealed.
