Starting Lineup

Dean Henderson Had little to do to make in the first half but then tested from Arbër Hoxha’s curling effort. A sliding tackle on an Albanian attacker highlighted sharp reading of the game. Six out of ten

The debutant Tested against Albania’s main danger through their forward. Operated in a central role early on but moved to the flank once a teammate was introduced. 7

The defender Advanced forward on the ball, as he has done before. On occasion seemed hesitant when carrying play and the approach abandoned by the interval. 6/10

Dan Burn A constant threat on corners and free-kicks, per usual, perhaps is another option to his teammate in the backline instead of alongside him. One wayward ball later in the match nearly resulted in an opener for the visitors. Six

The young full-back Another composed display by the 20-year-old following his debut against another side. Saka was unable to take full advantage of a gorgeous backheel over their defense. The left-back spot is firmly his at this stage. 7/10

The newcomer His first start in an England shirt. Slightly loose in possession but his dangerous corners were a threat. An effective tempo-setter for the boss to have versus defensive opponents. Shown a yellow for a rash tackle. 6

Declan Rice Crosses from corners and free-kicks caused problems. Had license to drift on the left yet found himself offside as the pass came in front of goal. Awarded a well-earned rest around the 60-minute point. 6

Jude Bellingham Functioned in a high role out wide and contributed with defensive duties. Showed glimpses of brilliance and dragged a shot wide. Replaced in the closing stages by Rogers, his competition, after receiving a caution. 7

Jarrod Bowen Was presented with England’s top opening of the first half, his strike smartly stopped by the Albanian keeper. With a teammate staying deep, he had to provide width out wide but his crosses from the touchline varied in quality. Replaced late in the match. 6

Harry Kane The match-winner netting seventy-seventh and seventy-eighth finishes in an England shirt. The opener a typical poacher’s finish and his next a classy header following a clever run away from the opposition. Now 32, he continues to improve with the national team stand a real opportunity in future competitions with him leading the line. 8/10

The attacker Found it tough to influence play out wide. Was presented with a decent opportunity after being played in by Bellingham yet the keeper made the save. His replacement produced a bigger an impact when substituted. Five
