Baroque Works is geared up to play a huge role in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, although the true confrontation won’t take place until season 3, and a beloved, popular member has recently been selected.
Netflix announced recently that Cole Escola has joined the One Piece season 3 cast and will embody Mr. 2. This character possesses the power to transform into an exact copy of any person they’ve laid a hand on with their dominant hand. Escola, who is non-binary and goes by they/them, will play a interpretation of that character reimagined as non-binary, instead of as a drag queen, in the real-life adaptation, unlike the initial comic and anime.
Escola is joined by several other new cast members set to bring the group to life, such as leader Mr. 0, brought to life by the seasoned performer, Sophia Anne Caruso as a key member, and an accomplished actor, who is also part of the ensemble as the monarch of Alabasta.
Though this character is a major member of the group, the persona won’t appear until One Piece the upcoming installment. Given the next season expected to adapt the Little Garden segment, this marks a significant shift in the placement of their first appearance, one that could indicate additional alterations to the plot development.
Their mix of precise humor and profound feeling makes them a perfect fit for the part. Besides their recent voice performance in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and multiple awards for penning and acting in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, highlighting the range they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s most celebrated characters.
The streaming service’s real-life One Piece program is set to return for its second season on March 10, 2026.
