Vince Gilligan Discloses He Has an Idea of How Pluribus Will End... At the Moment.

Vince Gilligan never anticipated that the Apple TV+ show would emerge as a breakout success. “God bless the fans,” Gilligan says. “It was unexpected the show being as widely discussed as it is, and it makes me deliriously happy.”

Now that Season 1 of the popular series reaching its finale—and the next chapter greenlit and underway—Gilligan and his team recently discussed the viewer reception and whether it will impact the future direction of Pluribus.

Regarding the Tremendous Audience Reaction

One could easily to get sidetracked by the constant speculation and online debates regarding Pluribus. The creator is striving to ignore the noise.

“It's like being force fed your favorite dessert and being tickled to death,” he says. “It's the greatest thing, but I hear about it through word of mouth, and that's intentional. Not once have I searched for my own name online, nor do I ever intend to. Not because I don't care. It's a bottomless pit I know I would disappear down and then I'd be never leaving the house from Home Depot and I'd rarely emerge from my living room.”

Despite trying to stay away, there’s no escaping the extremely enthusiastic response to the series. The best he and his team can do is to acknowledge it humbly and try not to let it dictate the story of the show.

“It is not our goal to adjust our writing,” says Alison Tatlock. “The plot we develop is not impacted by what people are saying.”

“It's wiser to keep our noses to the grindstone,” Gilligan adds.

The Central Mystery: Will the creator See the Ending of Pluribus?

Considering Gilligan and his team aren't taking cues by fan response, does that mean they already know how Pluribus will reach its endpoint? In short yes… in a way.

“There are some potential directions about where the show might end up,” Gilligan says. “yet we stand ready to throw out a good idea for a better idea. This approach has served us in well on Better Call Saul and on Breaking Bad even before that. We change course when we find a more perfect path and I suspect we'll be doing that.”

Then again, if all else fails, Gordon Smith has a pretty funny idea to fall back on.

“I constantly suggest that it's all in a snow globe, and that we'll zoom out in the finale and we're in there,” he says humorously, “though the idea hasn't gained traction.”

Then again, one could always use the legendary finales?

“I'd love for Carol to wake up in bed beside Bob Newhart,” he jokes.

Pluribus can be watched on the streaming service.
